I know by the title this seems a little odd. Two movie reviews in one post? Well Both these movies deserve a review. I just don’t think both have to be long.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Review
I don’t think this review needs to be long. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is good. Not as good as the first movie but it is good in the sense it is a sequel. The music is spot on, the film has a lot of heart, and the acting is great.
At times the movie felt long winded and drawn out. I understand they have five characters that they want to fledge out with their own stories. The problem is that making a story too complex can be a headache. Stick with the formula for The Avengers and you won’t ever be disappointed.
Everyone and their mothers should go see this movie. I give it a 3.8 out of 5 baby groot dancing. I want to also mention that I saw Thor: Ragnarok trailer again and I am getting pretty excited for that movie.
Speaking of Avengers, Chris Evans stars in Gifted, which is a touching movie of a gifted young girl and her uncle. They don’t make up a traditional family but when her grandmother and her uncle have differing opinions of how to raise her. Things get a little sticky.
Gifted Cast and Crew
- Chris Evans as Frank
- McKenna Grace as Mary
- Octavia Spencer as Roberta
- Jenny Slate as Bonnie
- Lindsay Duncan as Evelyn
Gifted is fantastic. This movie is a rollercoaster of emotions. At one point I am laughing at McKenna and Chris talking, sad at one point, thinking of something Chris is trying to teach McKenna’s character. I mean the chemistry between everyone is electrifying. The casting couldn’t have been any better. I mean for a pretty inexperienced writer the script was done well. I think the help of great actors help sell it more to an audience.
Gifted is a movie I would suggest to everyone to watch at some point in their lives. As I said, this movie as everything. Chris Evans shows he’s way more than just Captain America. I am very happy that he insisted in his contract that he would be able to do small films in between doing Disney Marvel movies. He shows he loves his craft in an exhilarating performance. And watch out for McKenna Grace. She’s going to be a big name actress as she grows if she stays an actress. Her personality and professionalism in character is absolutely fantastic.
I give Gifted a 4.5 out of 5 math problems. This movie is truly a gift.
